We did it! Thrive named Employment Law Firm of the Year 2021, 2022 and 2023!

Employment Law, Thrive Life

We had a fantastic opening week to October, because Thrive Law won the Employment Law award at the Yorkshire Legal Awards for the f̶i̶r̶s̶t̶ s̶e̶c̶o̶n̶d̶  third year in a row!

Thrive Law also shortlisted for Company of the Year at the inaugural Smart Works Leeds Fashion as A Force for Good Ball.

Overseen by an esteemed judging panel of legal experts from across Leeds and Yorkshire, the Yorkshire Legal Awards interrogates the achievements of entrants, operates a fair scoring system that removes biases, and promotes multiple methods of participation.

In their reasons for choosing Thrive as the premier employment law team of 2023, the judges described us as “outstandingly proactive” in our approach to mental health and wellbeing in the workplace.

Thrive also goes above and beyond to fulfil its mission to enable everyone to thrive in the workplace, providing knowledge and resources on mental health and wellbeing through a range of partnerships and collaborations.

The past 12 months have been phenomenal for Thrive. We have continued to assist Linda Fairhall following her record compensation award of £462,000 in her four-year case over whistleblowing.

Some clients won in the last 18 months were also previously with the ‘Big 6’ law firms but chose Thrive for its refreshing approach, values and offering.

Other major highlights include ACAS profiling Thrive to demonstrate reasonable adjustments for mental health, Founder and Managing Partner Jodie Hill co-authoring a book on valuing discrimination claims, and partnering with Fertility at Work Matters for a Northern roundtable to aid the conversation around fertility issues at work.

Commenting on the Yorkshire Legal Awards 2023 win, Jodie said: “It’s fantastic to win the Employment Law award yet again.

“This team, from our senior associate solicitors to our paralegals, is a marvel to behold. Their knowledge and application are as impressive as their practising of our progressive values is exemplary. Bring on 2024.”

Tom Stenner-Evans, Partner at Thrive, said: “Winning this award three years in a row is quite something considering the quality of firms with a presence in Yorkshire. It’s a credit to Jodie and the great team we have built at Thrive.”

Thrive has also been shortlisted for the Company of the Year award at the Company of the Year at the Smart Works Leeds Fashion as A Force for Good Ball.

Taking place on 15 November at Leeds Marriott Hotel, the inaugural ball will celebrate the very best of Yorkshire fashion and the magical way that what we wear has the power to change how we see ourselves.

Thrive is shortlisted alongside Burberry, Gordons, High Speeds Training and IGA Talent for Company of the Year. The awards will recognise the amazing women and organisations that make the work of Smart Works Leeds possible.

The charity supports women from a range of different backgrounds and age groups back into employment by providing coaching so they feel more confident and start believing in their own ability to succeed.

Thrive is a longstanding partner and supporter of Smart Works Leeds, having first begun working with the charity when it opened in the city in 2019.

Jodie said: “It’s wonderful to be shortlisted for Company of the Year. Smart Works Leeds is closely aligned with our values and aims—and we were the first business to partner with them when they opened in Leeds.

“It’s been an absolute pleasure to have them as our Charity of the Year and we’re looking forward to continuing our support when we attend the fashion ball next month.”

Tickets are still available for the Fashion as A Force for Good Ball. Every penny raised will go towards supporting unemployed women to grow in confidence, get the job, and change their lives—all through the transformative power of clothing.
