World Religion Day – Celebrating Unity and Diversity

Diversity, Inclusion, Religion in the workplace

At Thrive Law, we believe in creating a more inclusive society by respecting and understanding other beliefs and religion. What better day to do this than on World Religion Day!

But, what is World Religion Day?

It is celebrated on the third Sunday of January each year (this year it is on 19 January 2025).

World Religion Day was founded by the Baha’i Faith in 1950 to highlight the oneness of all religions. Although there are different religions, the idea is that all major world religions share common ethical principles, such as compassion, justice, and kindness.

By focusing on these shared values, World Religion Day encourages people from different faiths to come together in peace and mutual respect.

And, why is World Religion Day even important?

As a law firm, Thrive Law understands the importance of promoting religious tolerance, both in society and the workplace.

The Equality Act 2010 recognises “religion” as a protected characteristic, making it illegal to discriminate against individuals based on their religion or belief.

World Religion Day serves as a reminder that respecting religious diversity helps foster peace and understanding.

In a world where religious differences can often lead to conflict, focusing on common values is important for creating a more inclusive society and a more inclusive workforce.

So, what can companies do to make sure they are more inclusive when it comes to religion?

Happy World Religion Day from all of us at Thrive Law!
